A Simon & Garfunkel Fact

At the risk of showing my age – here’s something about the duo “Simon & Garfunkel” I know to be a fact!

(I sure hope you know who I’m talking about.)

Simon & Garfunkel released their famous hit “The Sounds of Silence” in 1964.

And here’s my fun fact about them.

Simon & Garfunkel DID NOT compose their hit song during one of our district’s Homecoming Spirit Weeks!

I can guarantee this.

Because through the years, our Homecoming Spirit Weeks have proven themselves to be anything but silent.

As anyone who happened to be in the EFR hallway last week when the 8th grade band struck up our fight song can attest!

While Homecoming Spirit Week concluded last Friday night with an exciting victory by our varsity, the selection of our dazzling and much-deserving court, and an excellent performance by the marching band, Eagles of every age had much to cheer about all week long.

Check out this short video to see a few snapshots of Eagle spirit that might be new to you.

You’ll enjoy it.

Hopefully, you didn’t miss the honor FHS Principal JoLynn Clark received during Homecoming week.

This appeared on social media last Thursday – and without a doubt – it’s a testament to JoLynn’s dedication to public education, her talent, and impressive track record of leadership and professionalism.

Congratulations, JoLynn!

We can’t keep looking back to last week, however.

Our new school year with all of its events and learning opportunities is still underway!

I invite you to attend the Muth Community Players production of Into the Woods.

This quirky musical fairytale by Stephen Sondheim follows the story of Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to go the King’s Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give some milk. Of course, the neighborhood witch doesn’t make it easy for them – and well, you’ll just have to attend one of the performances to see how things turn out.

Opening night is tomorrow night (10/13) and shows run through Sunday (10/15).

Here is the link to purchase tickets.

I think this musical sounds like fun!

Naturally, I don’t believe Stephen Sondheim composed the music and lyrics to it during one of our district’s Homecoming weeks, either.

Thank YOU for helping us keep our Eagle spirit seen and heard in so many positive ways!
