When young people choose education as their profession, I think it’s great.
It’s even better when they choose to join the roster of our talented FSD staff!
Here are three teachers it’s a joy to introduce to you.
And I thank them for sharing their “first month” impressions in their own words.
Rebecca Dietz – FHS Algebra Teacher
My first month at FHS has been exciting, exhausting, and highly educational.
Everyone has been super supportive and helpful while I adjust to my new school district.
I have loved getting to know all my students and learning from my fellow staff members.
It really is like a family here!
Gabby Sergent – FHS Special Education Teacher
My first month of being a first-year full-time teacher has been amazing!
I am working with the special services department in the high school and I couldn’t be happier with the support FHS has given me and continues to give me.
I’m always boasting about how friendly the staff is and how great the collaboration is between us..
There are not enough good words to describe how caring and informative Dawn Dafoe and Amy Sanchez have been for me. I would be lost without them.
The new mentor program in FSD has been wonderful and I have enjoyed building rapport with students and staff during my first month.
I am grateful for the opportunity FSD gave me and I’m excited to continue learning, growing, and teaching here.
Katherine Kay – 4th Grade Teacher at List
The first month here has been busy!
Besides the entire wonderfully dedicated staff and kids here, my own team is extraordinary. They are funny, direct, and their collaboration is unlike anything I’ve experienced in other districts. I respected them long before I was actually on the team, both as a mom and as an educator, and my admiration has only grown now that I see how hard they work behind the scenes.
The teachers at List truly enjoy what they are doing and our daily conversations flow back and forth from school to family. It’s wonderful. And I especially appreciate how everyone is committed to reflecting, improving, and doing what will benefit our kids.
Now that you’ve briefly met Rebecca, Gabby, and Katherine – I think I better sign off.
Nothing I can write in an email to you can match their enthusiasm and commitment to our students, that’s for sure.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t once again thank you for your enthusiastic commitment to our students, too!
The challenges and opportunities ahead for FSD requires a broad range of skills and talents from all of us, FSD veterans and newbies alike!
